Tossing and turning

I bought this Leach kick wheel yesterday. It travelled 17km on the roof of a friend's car to get here but now will have a more dignified future as I clean it up and learn how to use it. It has "5 76" stamped under the seat and a makers sticker from J H Wilson, Punchbowl.

Hi,
Great find! I am looking for one of these, by J.H. Wilson. If you may know of any others I would love to know, thanks, Josh.

This style of wheel comes up on eBay fairly regularly but I don't know how often they're by a known maker.

You could wait for one to be listed and try other auction sites as well. Or classified ads.

Happy hunting, Tony

Thanks Tony, may I ask how much you paid for yours on eBay? This would give me a good idea to budget :)

I paid $A90 for it - but I was the only bidder. The ones I've seen before have had a start price of $A200 which is a more realistic figure.

They don't sell though. They're heavy and hard to transport. The one I bought was the closest one to my home over the last two years.

You'd have to budget transport as well - a ute and at least one other person to lift it - or a transport company.

Happy hunting

Hey Tony,
Good news, I managed to pick one up locally :) Pretty much exactly the same as yours, the sticker is missing but it definitely looks like a JH Wilson!
It needs a good clean up though, quite a bit of surface rust on the components. Any tips for cleaning?
